The Croatian Center for Dramatic Education awarded our theater studio a recognition for the innovative activity achieved by creating and designing a drama studio ‘at a distance’ as an alternative way of working in pandemic conditions.

The reasoning of the Committee:
The new coronavirus pandemic and the drastic measures taken to contain the spread of infection have had a particular impact on activities such as performing arts and educational activities, which are carried out through close contact and live communication with participants. Given the need for protective measures, this spring and again in November, not only was the conduct of regular activities called into question, but also the very existence of drama studios and their staff.

Since the beginning of the great isolation in the spring, the educators and directors of the Tirena Theater Drama Studio, faced with the threat of complete disruption and possible closure of their studio, had begun to develop forms of ‘remote’ work, adapting the tasks and procedures of the live drama studio to the possibilities of remote visual communication through programs and platforms such as Zoom, WhatsApp, YouTube and others.

The Drama Studio of the Tirena Theater has managed to implement a complete process of ‘remote’ work as an alternative way of studying acting when live activities were not possible. Presenting examples of their work in different social networks, they offered other studios and educators working models applicable in similar circumstances.
