MARIJA ŠORŠA

Born in Zagreb, where she completed primary and secondary school and graduated in Croatian studies and comparative literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.

In 2002 she graduated from the Vatroslav Lisinski School of Music in Zagreb, solo singing department. For ten years she was a member of the dance and acting studio at the Zagreb Youth Theatre. She attended a number of seminars and workshops in dance, creative writing and theatre pedagogy.

Since 1997 she has been working at the Tirena Theatre as a drama pedagogue, actress and costume designer. She performed in the children’s play The queen of the tooth mice, The Circus, Who Will Be Santa Claus?, Magical voice, Piece of cake, Super Christmas, Three Christmas Wishes, A Small Musical, The Adventures Of Baggy And Trashy and others.

She also participated in Tirena’s interactive performances The Right to a Mistake, De/Contamination, Green Island/Black Island, Is Castelli to Blame?, Everyone Knows Everything, Nobody Asks Anything, The Land of Apples, Onyx Cave, Escape is Not a solution and The Land Of Notes.

She has appeared in the musicals Grič witch, Catblues and Dr. Dolittle (Zagreb Youth Theatre).

She collaborated on films, tv shows and children’s shows as an acting pedagogue and assistant for children.

In 2001, a part of her play “A Fairy Tale about Two letters LJ” was published in the 3rd grade elementary school textbook. 

She publishes plays in the play anthologies “Imagination machine”, “Panic in Fear city” and “Chaos before the premiere”.
