Playwriting

The starting point for writing can be anything – an event, a place, an interesting person, a thought, a sentence, a smell, a color… In the workshop we will go through the whole process of working on a drama text. We will develop the idea into a synopsis, the synopsis into a sequence of scenes, and the sequence of scenes into real scenes! We will read and analyze the written scenes by roles and learn what are the formal features of the drama text, what makes a single scene, why a character’s biography is important, what is the purpose of the synopsis and scene sequence, the importance and how to write the synopsis, scene sequence and stage directions.
