NINA HORVAT

She got her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Dramaturgy at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. She is the artistic director of Tirena Theatre where she works as a drama teacher and leads workshops.

As a dramaturg she worked on several theatre productions: “Work! Work… / tryouts 6, 9, 11”, “The Two Character Play”, “Once Upon a Time…”, “I/manage” , “Genious”, “A MethODE for Marriage”, “Is That It?”, “Bottoms up”, “#generation”, “Undateables”, “Imagine”, “The Color of Upbringing” and “The Pink Dream Interpretation Book’ for which she also wrote the text and was nominated for the Audience award Teatar.hr in the ‘play of the year’ category. “The Pink Dream Interpretation Book” won the best play award on the Mali Marulić festival in 2013. In 2009. godine she won the Ministry of culture’s ‘Marin Držić’ award for her play “Till Death Do Us Part”. 

any of her plays were staged: „Who Invented That”, “Over the Bush, over the Thorn… (stories from Croatian folktales)”, “In My Head”, “Different” (Teatar Tirena), “The Pink Dream Interpretation Book” and “The Little Witch” (2015.)(Mala scena), “Three Third Trimesters” (Gradsko kazalište “Joza Ivakić”), “Behind the Fence” (Gradsko kazalište Požega), “Till Death Do Us Part” (Teatri Adriana)  „I živjeli su sretno…?“ (Scena Gorica i Pozorište Pinokio) for which she won the Teatar.hr Audience award. 

Her radio plays “The Peaceful Grove” and “You look just like her” were recorded and aired by the Croatian Radio.

A few of her plays for children and youth were published in Tirena’s collections of plays “Chaos before the premiere” and “Rebellion of Characters”.
